Kristal Sotomayor is a bilingual documentary filmmaker and editor. Currently, she works as a Production & Programing Intern at POV | American Documentary. In addition, she is a Film Scholar Fellow at Scribe Video Center working on a documentary about the undocumented immigrant communities in Philadelphia. Her undergrad short film To My Motherland has screened at film festivals around the United States and Europe.
Most recently, Kristal has been the recipient of the Film Scholar Fellowship from Scribe Video Center, co-sponsored by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences. In the past, she has received the HCAH Flaherty Seminar Student Fellowship from Haverford College and the NextDoc Emerging Filmmaker Fellowship from Youth FX and The Carey Institute. As well as the Hanna Holborn Gray Research Fellowship and Film Studies Program Fellowship from Bryn Mawr College.
