Great advice Eric. Personally, I would ad one last point to complete the list; (as in a logline,) Irony, best as being part of a great Hook. Irony=Hook.

Good point. Blake Snyder talks about that "itch that needs scratched" in terms of irony in a logline. I cover that element under my "Original" element - that ideally ideas have something intriguingly fresh that we've never seen before, in terms of the problematic situation at their heart.
