About Marcos

D. Marcos Saavedra knew he was a born storyteller when he got his first camera at age 7 and became obsessed with capturing moving images. E.T. is his earliest memory of the cinema and Spielberg's early work continues to influence his visual style, as he largely shoots using anamorphic lenses and adapters to bring that sense of magic to his own work.

At age 16, Marcos learned how to edit using both tape-to-tape machines and Avid. He went on to hone these skills at the University of Texas – Pan American where he graduated with a B.A. in Communication with a concentration in Radio-Television-Film. While in school, Marcos earned 2nd Place for Best National News Story as Producer from the National Association of College Broadcasters.

Marcos has directed, shot and cut two independent narrative features and several short films. His short film, Damsel, made the Top 250 Round of the HBO Project Greenlight Directing Contest out of 1,733 entries. He continues to serve as editor, cinematographer and director on various projects, including titles of his own in development, while working as an Associate Digital Video Analyst at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
