  • Seven Moments in Time

    Seven Moments in Time (2025)
Film (short) by Bella Vision / Dave Thomas Films (Comedy and Drama) Writer, Director, Producer "Seven Moments in Time" poignantly explores the divide between generations, showcasing the potential for connection in unexpected places. The elderly man, with his weekly ritual on the park bench, represents the wisdom and traditions of the older generation, while the teenager embodies the vibrancy and innovation of youth. Initially, their interactions highlight their differences—cultural misunderstandings and contrasting lifestyles create barriers. The young man's attempt to share his rap song, filled with modern references, is met with confusion, emphasising the gap between their worlds. However, as the story unfolds over seven moments, small gestures begin to bridge this divide. A shared sandwich, a sip of tea, and a light-hearted joke serve as catalysts for connection. These simple acts symbolise the universal human experiences of sharing and laughter, demonstrating that despite their differences, both characters have a deep need for companionship and understanding. The climax, marked by the elderly man's absence, leaves the teenager reflecting on their newfound bond. This absence highlights the fragility of relationships and the importance of seizing moments with others, reminding audience members that connections can be fleeting yet profoundly impactful. Ultimately, "Seven Moments in Time" advocates for empathy and the significance of bridging generational gaps, encouraging society to foster more meaningful interactions between young and old.

  • The Journey to Pride

    The Journey to Pride (2025)
Documentary by Bella Vision / Dave Thomas Films Producer, Director, Writer, Editor, Colourist This compelling documentary, filmed over the course of a year, charts the triumphant return of Wicklow Pride—an LGBTQIA+ advocacy organisation originally founded in 2014 by activist Dave Thomas and his partner, Patrick Bracken. After a hiatus caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the resurgence of right-wing politics and a rising tide of hostility—particularly towards the trans community—made it clear that Wicklow Pride was needed more than ever. Determined to foster visibility, inclusion, and solidarity, Dave Thomas set out to revive the organisation with a bold new goal: to establish the first-ever Pride Parade in County Wicklow. In 2022, he issued a call for like-minded individuals to help bring this vision to life. A diverse group of volunteers stepped forward, and by August of that year, the new Wicklow Pride Committee was formed. The journey that followed was anything but smooth. Over the next year, the committee faced a whirlwind of challenges, from fundraising struggles and logistical obstacles to personal politics and heated debates. Yet amidst the tensions were moments of joy, camaraderie, and unwavering resilience. Their first milestone came on St. Patrick’s Day 2023, when Wicklow Pride made history as the first LGBTQIA+ organisation to march in the Wicklow Town parade. Fearing hostility, they instead found themselves embraced with warmth and celebration—a sign that change was already taking root. As the countdown to the Pride Parade intensified, internal conflicts led to a committee restructure. With a smaller but more focused team, the dream of Wicklow’s first Pride Parade became a reality. On 1st July 2023, history was made as the county welcomed its inaugural Pride celebration—an event that sent a powerful message of love, acceptance, and equality. Funded by Dave Thomas and produced by his company, Bella Vision (trading as Dave Thomas Films), The Journey to Pride is more than just a behind-the-scenes look at the making of a Pride Parade. It is a story of passion, perseverance, and the unyielding fight for a more inclusive future. Blending humour, personal narratives, and raw emotion, this documentary shines a light on the volunteers, allies, and activists who dared to make a difference. This is their journey. This is The Journey to Pride.

  • 1 Billion

    1 Billion (2018)
Film by Dave Thomas Films (Documentary) Producer | Director | Writer | Editor “1 Billion” is a powerful documentary film that explores the lives of the 1 billion people with disabilities worldwide. Despite their vast numbers, these individuals are often excluded from society, facing persistent barriers in education, employment, and daily life. In this poignant and eye-opening film, filmmaker Dave Thomas uncovers the harsh reality that people with disabilities are frequently treated as second-class citizens in their own countries. Through personal stories, statistics, and interviews with individuals from various walks of life, the documentary highlights the struggle for equality that continues to affect people with disabilities, particularly in Ireland. It challenges the misconceptions surrounding disability and showcases the resilience and determination of those who are proving that ability is not defined by disability. Featuring inspiring accounts from young people with disabilities, “1 Billion” reveals how people with disabilities are not only overcoming adversity but are also making significant contributions to society. The film underscores the importance of inclusion and the urgent need for equal opportunities, illustrating that when given the chance, people with disabilities can demonstrate extraordinary talents and potential. “1 Billion” is a call to action, urging audiences to reconsider their perceptions and embrace a future where everyone, regardless of ability, can fully participate in and contribute to society. It’s a reminder that the power of 1 billion voices is far too great to ignore.
