About Tonya

TONYA HAWKINS is a creator and the founder of Twin Fins Productions.
As a business partner and entrepreneur, she is keenly aware of her role in developing content that not only connects with audiences for distribution but is also producible on independent budgets to maximize investors’ potential returns. She has a deep network that extends through Corporate America, Wall Street, Tech, and the entertainment industry.
She can strategically connect those relationships to create built-in production value for any project. Born and raised a Midwest girl, she has lived most of her life in Michigan and calls both Flint and Detroit metros home. It’s with that unique perspective she seeks to create unforgettable moments that are forged through a collaborative bond with other filmmakers.

Over the past decade, she has served in a variety of Producing and Acting roles for film, and television- most recently, the Best Picture-winning (Eclipse Awards) “Kid Brother” (2017), and the Netflix feature film “Neon Lights” (2022) featuring Kim Coates. She has produced multiple award-winning short films. Notably, the 2020 festival darling “Bliss Burger”, an art-house horror short that won awards at over 30 international festivals in 2020-2021 including best film.
She is often asked to collaborate on films creatively as a Producer and/or to Executive Produce.
She currently has a diverse slate of 7 feature scripts and 2 series all in various genres and stages of development with budget levels between $2-$20M. Her next project for the screen will release in late 2025. A drama/comedy feature she has Creatively Produced,
Executive Produced and Co-Stars called “Don’t Be a Stranger”, by writer/director Peter Herold.

“I’m lucky because I truly have found my purpose and it is what I love to do.
I believe to be an effective producer you must understand story, and be exceptional at relationship
building, but at your core, you must be a CEO first. Entertainment is a business, and each project is effectively a start-up.
I have earned my mettle in the independent space by rolling up my sleeves, wearing many hats, and building every project with a keen awareness that you are only successful when the film makes it to the screen and makes a profit. I constantly network & attend markets I have found wonderful mentors along the way who work in the studio system and with the streamers. Those mentors have given me both a roadmap full of business strategy and also tools to recognize and discover strong voices.
I know that if I keep a pulse on the marketplace then each film I shepherd will have an audience to inspire because the timing will be right. The last critical piece is ensuring each film possesses the integrity for theatrical release. My goal is to leave a legacy. A legacy that has provided true mavericks of independent cinema with the business support and acumen to bring their stories to multiplexes. To keep the theatrical experience possible for them and future generations. It’s more important than ever to provide space for independent voices to be elevated and discovered. It’s why I never leave the trenches.”
