Maurice Vaughan Meh, no need to dream. Not crazy about blondes. I dig brunettes. 1986 Demi Moore wins every time!!
Rutger Oosterhoff HA! "jealous Gomez planted!!!" HAHAHHA! Awesome cliff hanger! Good job, Rutger!

I am new to the idea of script writing and i have had a movie idea for about a year and decided to start now. I am from Saudi Arabia so the idea of movies and scripts are very new to me. I would love to learn more about it as I want to make my own movie and achieve my dream. If anyone would like to contact me here is My email: abdulrahman07.alshehri@gmail.com
Also read movie scripts In the same genre Nd style you want to right. There is specific way to write script. If you write them wrong then professionals will recognize that immediately and throw them away after one page.
I have taken your advice and changed my email. I have read some scripts but sure will read more thank you
This may seem a very stupid question, but I am sure this is a question a lot of new comers ask. When you at a place that you feel your script is ready and you want to start sending query letter out to see if you receive any interest. Who do you contact? Is it the production companies or do you target specific individuals?
Surina Nel you are absolutely right. Some of us are already at the top while some are still climbing the ladder. This actually will bring a shift that will keep us moving forward to our destination. Thanks William, CS and Cathy.
I rarely/never send query letters anymore. I do contests, websites like blacklist, specscout, inktip, and pitch sessions on Stage 32.
thank you all for brilliant advice
I watched this clip. It was insightful to hear about the inspiration around the character.
Glad you found the content beneficial, Cathy.
Not the kind of review I was expecting with Tom Hardy as the lead. There's at least some constructive criticism here that might serve us drama writers.

I recently re-watched Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and forgot TH was in it. He was much more enjoyable to watch than in Venom...
TH is brilliant in Peaky Blinders

Expand commentWith most studio executives and their minions considering themselves quality raconteurs, I’m flabbergasted that any studio would spend 21 million dollars and attract A-list talent like Tom Hardy and Linda Cardellini to make a badly written movie about such a notoriously intriguing person as Al Capone. Who wouldn’t want to see a 47-year old Capone suffering from advanced dementia reflect upon the foul deeds of his criminal career. With most industry folk being cautious about pulling the trigger on a potential bomb, it’s a wonder a badly written movie ever gets made. Didn't they make a similar story in 1975?

I watch 'Capricorn One' and 'Seems like old times the other day', both of which dont really give that audience satisfaction in regards to closure.
Should a script give this closure? Is it the director or writer who puts these endings in films that are not conforming to 99% of films? Does the bad guy always have to die and the guy get the girl or the "quest" resolved?
And as a new writer, should my focus be on writing a solid screenplay with a more traditional ending or something that 'breaks rules' so to speak?
Just throwing it out there for discussion. Does it frustrate or annoy you if the ending is not complete? As westerners we like to have things wrapped and compartmentalised but many foreign films certainly dont end on a happy note. Is there a film ending that annoys you?

Expand commentI believe the ending is our closing statement for our story's premise or theme. In my latest feature script, an action thriller/love story, MAD MOUNTAIN MASSACRE, my antagonist kills every mofo in the movie to get the girl - and gets away with it. What I'm saying with this story is people get away with murder everyday and don't get caught. Cheating and not getting caught is the American way. If I believed differently, I would have written another ending. Not guilty until caught is the verdict for my love story., Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!

He went from a nobody to the peoples hero - that was the ending. The hospital scene afterward was totally a stutter scene. He kills again. Shocker. AND it's not even good. No fresh news. I didn't get it. did you?

When the problem became big. It was too late. He didn’t want their help. He was punishing them for not helping him when he needed. The murder of the doctor is a “too little, too late” metaphor.
Hello all.

Expand postHello all.
So... I used to think I'm immune to writer's block because I always have something to write, always. Whether it's an old script or a new one, or a rewrite, or a new draft, there is something. Besides rewrites and new drafts, I'm attempting to start a new script and a couple of weeks ago I got stuck on my new script. I have a beginning and an ending but nothing for the middle. And when I thought it can't get any worse, I wrote the beginning, now I just can't write one scene further into the script. Stuck.
It gets even worse, so today I decided maybe to write something new again, and I am now experiencing what may be considered writer's block. I just can't get excited about my preexisting ideas, my new ideas are somewhat diabolical to say the least and it just feels like I have nothing to new to write.
So I decided to come post about it in the lounge and hope for some insightful dialogue about writer's block, maybe someone has a cure or a clever joke that may inspire my only good idea so far today to write a screenplay about a screenwriter who is suffering writer's block.
Either way, this is a new problem for me, some of you have had experience with it and I hope to learn from you or at least share good laughs because what the hell man?! All these ideas and my brain is convinced they all suck... that's ludicrously funny to me.
Thanks Cathy. It sounds like fun too.
Dan, your advice will actually help with a different script I put on hold because I had no idea how to structure it.
Thank you so much.
Cathy A - I see that you're in Texas. Getting together with other writers has its advantages for sure. My advice is to stay pretty close to home and involve yourself with other local writers of about your own skill level. All the best to you.
