About Stan

Stan Adard (born 1954 in Schaffhausen, Switzerland) is a Swiss artist (digital art, video, music) and pioneer in digital flow art. He graduated from the University of Zurich with a master degree in Social Psychology, Education and Sociology.

Adard lives in Kienberg, Switzerland, is married with Christine and has three adult sons.
With his passion to digital animation Adard won the Swiss Video Film awards in 1986. Already in the early days of digital animation he created the first animated sequences of digital dreams (1995).
Together with Peter Fibich and Mihaly Horvath, Adard founded in 2014 the label astradream () as realization studio for Adards’ animations.
He got internationally known for his breathing pictures that he started developing in 2014.
Stan Adard works with 3D modeling and rendering software to create his artwork. Each breathing picture consists of a series of individual frames that are brought together as an animation. Depending on the artwork a single breathing picture is based on several hundred to several thousand single frames.
The breathing effect of his digital art is created through an algorithm that mimics human breathing patterns, something Adard developed specifically for The Breathing Pictures project.

Adard's recent work has been exhibited in galleries in Switzerland and the US, and on some art fairs including Art Basel, Artexpo New York, the Monaco Yacht Show, and Spectrum Miami, among others.
