If you could pick ONE person to mentor you ...who would it be?
Tim Bragg - I adore Alan Alda! He also grew up surrounded by vaudeville & burlesque, his mom was a dancer!
I love Vaudeville. I love George Burns and Gracie Allen. I did a few years ago a four page short tribute to Vaudeville, nobody liked it.
Responding many years too late Luis R. Quintero but I'd choose Nia Vardalos. She's the reason I wrote my first screenplay and I'd love to star in my own uplifting comedies as she has as well!...

Some of my favourite comedians started in Vaudeville or radio. I relate to Jack Benny because our personalities are similar and our comedy style are very much alike and he has a certain sarcasm that I also have.
I know it's probably cliche, but I'd have to say Spielberg. The guy has been my top film and storytelling influence literally since I was a kid.
Hello everyone! I am a social worker and comedy screenwriter specializing in ensemble farces about families and workplaces. Now I am working on a television situation comedy pilot script. Is anyone else writing sit com pilots now?
Hi Diane, I'm currently working on a pilot for a TV sitcom and hope to submit it to The Insider TV Writing Contest.
Hello Illimani, Thanks for the compliment. Also congratulations on your webisode sale! I bet you can get a literary agent soon ...
I'm working on a couple sitcom pilots and it's a lot of fun. I took a class in TV writing and it was so eye opening on how formulaic comedy writing is. I've written four features and they are nothing like writing a pilot for a television show. Best wishes! Chris
Hello Chris, Yes, I'm finding it fun to write, like writing a short story after writing novels. I enjoy the formulas as I enjoy writing song lyrics with structure too.
I've always wonder about this. What would you do after you written a great screenplay? What would be the next step???
Does it have a sprinkling of Comedy? Every Drama needs a little humour: http://www.cheekymonkeycomedy.com/the-book/
Polish it until it is brilliant and do NOT listen to other people on what changes to make! You know your creation and characters better then anyone!

Even the A list writers have their friends (often other A list writers) read their scripts and give notes. Something along the lines of 'you can't see the forest for the trees' when you are so immersed in your work.

Instead, try posting some pages on various screenwriting forums. Or, if you have the bucks, spend a hundred or so on some good and reputable script analysts who can break down the good and bad of your script and give you ideas on how to make it better.
Both are good advice. But do not kid yourself; the film you finish will have no resemblance to the film you started.

Some days I think I can't keep up and others I think it's such a great time because it's all up for grabs. Is Netflix in the UK now? I was wondering if they've partnered with LOVEFILM or if they are competing with them.
Thanks so much Derek. Glad you enjoyed it!

That poor girl. That'd be a good time to call it a day.
Ha, ha, cheers Wayne!
