About Molly

Molly Jacobs is a humble plumber’s daughter that grew up in a little town in Colorado. Her mom used to put her in front of the TV (so she could get some work done) and this inspired Molly to create elaborate stories for her Barbie’s to act out. In high school, Molly worked at a movie theater as a projectionist, so that she could save up enough money to go to college. Molly wanted a film degree, but her mom told her that she should get a "practical' degree, so Molly got a Bachelor’s of Science in Journalism at the University of Colorado at Boulder. However, she did talk her professors into letting her make short films instead of news pieces. This is where she first learned how to write a story for a film, line up a shot and finish a project on a deadline. After college, Molly moved to L.A. and worked many odd jobs, as well as a few industry related jobs. She enjoyed working as background atmosphere, and as a P.A. at 20th Century Fox, because she got to learn how a big budget TV show was shot. Then, when she started going to the WGAw Foundation events, she learned how to craft a well-structured story. It was around this time that Molly wrote, then shot her first film, “Being An Adult Sucks,” for $3,000. She had made arrangements for one of her friends to direct, but he backed out last minute because he got a paying gig. So Molly took on directing and realized that not all actors were as scary as Norma Desmond. Unfortunately, the cost of living got too high to afford a place to live and chase her dreams. So Molly moved back home to Colorado, where she wrote and shot most of “The Tale of a Corporate Slave,” a film about a doormat who gets sick of being stepped on and decides to fight back. Currently, Molly is writing her next project, feeding the squirrels and birds in the backyard, and supporting The Eden Reforestation Project.
