JOINT VENTURE - The true story of the first all female cannabis delivery service in California, and the sting operation that brought them down.

After local laid back drug dealer ANDY sells his business to Sailene, she and her husband JON have to figure out how to unload it. It is a quick education.

“I just bought my way into a career. All my savings bought me a list of Andy’s sellers, farmers and connections. He called them and vouched for me. It was like getting AN MBA in Weed, the tests, grades and study hall. And I was a bona-fide Graduate.”

Sailene assembles her diverse team including hipster, black badass PAULA, no nonsense with anger management issues, Israeli TALI, and ANNE, who could pass as a Disney Princess. They drive different color VW Bugs and deliver weed to everyone from cancer patients to stressed out moms.

“We hit a rhythm. It became part of our daily lives. Weed was king and we were its Queens.”

The business becomes so successful that Sailene changes it to Pearl Catering, accepting credit card payment...and tips. The women become known as the Florence Nightingale’s of Cannabis.

“So, I’m staring at this Banker guy and I’m thinking- “Two ounces of Indica and this dude would approve me to buy Dubai.”

Claire loses her mind  and begins to threaten Sailene... putting the cops on her tail. DETECTIVE PETERSON follows the women for several months and then arrests them all in one of Venice’s biggest sting operations.

“He was patient, like Buddha patient. Just chewin’ donuts, biding his time and waiting for the right opportunity. We had been beating the system for five years. We had good lifestyles. Making high dollar kinds of cash. But life is not a fairy tale. If you lose your shoe at midnight? You’re drunk. And we were straight up out of Fairy Godmothers.”

Yet, Sailene is undaunted. She hires ERIC, a lawyer who is a cannabis law expert.  He encourages her to get as many letters of reference as possible. When Sailene and her team go to court, the courtroom is packed with patients whom Sailene has helped. The judge listens to all of the character reference and lightens her sentence to community service.

After she finished community service, Sailene goes through her old phone and calls her contacts one by one. Over the years, she slowly built up her business and today she one of the most successful cannabis activists in the country.
