Sarah Provencal has an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy, focus in Directing. She has trained professional and university student actors and directors for many years, most recently at Virginia Commonwealth University. She recently played Rona Lisa Peretti in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in the US, as well as staging her own solo performance piece last year titled Variations on a Landslide. Directing credits include Karen Hartman’s Troy Women, devised work based on the text of Charles L. Mee, and a part devised, part scripted, and part improvised audience interactive, fairytale which was stage in London this past January. The piece was title Cutting Edge: an interactive fairytale and featured classic fairytale characters in a modern setting. The audience helped the protagonist make major plot choices, donated a prop which would end up saving the day, and filled in other details to contribute to the show’s improvised ending. Feedback for the show and the concept of interactive theatre as a whole was very enthusiastic.
