Faizah Imani is an inspiring and intuitive writer, and founder of F.I.V.O. Entertainment & Productions, LLC. Focused on delivering entertainment with a message, Faizah is a second generation playwright who has been writing most of her life, winning a national award as young as age 12.
Recognizing the severe shortage of quality roles for people of color in Hollywood, Faizah’s modus operandi is to write, produce and direct shows that have strong African American leading actors. “I feel it is my calling, so I honor that and don’t shy away from it.”
Born and raised in the small and humble town of Vardaman, Mississippi, Faizah has survived a plethora of things that the enemy meant for her demise. Experiencing every emotion a person can possibly experience, she would always wonder “Why me?” Looking back, she now understands that those experiences equipped her to be able to write and direct emotional dialogue, in such a way that it moves an audience member who has experienced or is experiencing that same emotion.
In 2011, Faizah had the honor of being cast to star in 25/7 Productions’ pilot that was supposed to have been picked up by BET, but never got scheduled. Seeing how the process went with 25/7 Productions and getting the opportunity to shake hands with the BET executives gave her an extra boost of confidence that she could make her mark in the entertainment industry.
An amazing thing about Faizah Imani’s story is that, though she has been writing most of her life, she did not know about the playwright mantle that was resting on her life. It wasn’t until 2012, when she was working as a crew member alongside Mr. Tyler Perry on the set of “For Better or Worse” that the storytelling gift was stirred up. She recalls, “Mr. Perry walked over to me, rested his hands on my shoulder and smiled the biggest smile…. What happened on the inside of me can’t even be explained. He imparted a mantle and helped stir up the gift that was lying dormant within me.” After completing the first 10 episodes of “For Better or Worse,” Imani moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles to further pursue her acting career. Her plans were divinely interrupted when she found herself back in Atlanta to cast and produce her first stage play.
Faizah’s first production “Love’s Last Episode” is an inspirational stageplay that deals with real issues affecting men. It also speaks to the women who love them. As of May 2015, she has produced three shows that were a huge success with great turnout. The success of Ms. Imani’s first stageplay affirmed even more the special storytelling gift God has entrusted her with…to reach the churched, as well as the unchurched. Faizah is currently working on a 4th staged production of “Love’s Last Episode,” and hopes to launch an HBCU tour in the very near future. She is also planning to produce her second staged production, “The Battle of Jherico” and launch pre-production in 2017 for her original Web-Series “Choosing Chastity.”
It is Faizah’s vision to eventually branch out from writing, producing and directing theatrical stageplays to writing, producing and directing in the realm of television and film. It is her dream to someday sell out stageplays at The Fabulous Fox Theater. In her spare time, you can often find her volunteering at Atlantas Fabulous Fox Theater.
