Black List Recommended screenwriter Suzanne Griffin creates darkly romantic and dangerous dramas centered in female agency and ambition, whose fierce, witty protagonists risk everything to reinvent themselves and the world around them.
Suzanne’s advocacy for her learning-disabled and now college-enrolled son has further fueled her passion for writing stories that empower marginalized voices. Suzanne’s themes reflect her journey as a bisexual female writer: self-determination, alliances among women, and the healing power of empathy.
Suzanne is one of 10 creators chosen for the 2024 HerArts Film Lab in Paestum, Italy, where she will develop a new romantic horror pilot. She is also currently creating a feature indie Drama at Stowe Story Labs Feature Campus. Suzanne was mentored by showrunners JaNeika James and JaSheika James (Gossip Girl) and Emmy-winning producer Jamila Jordan-Theus through the 2022 Women in Film Writers Circle Mentoring Program.
Suzanne is the Winner of the Stowe Story Labs/PAGE Awards Fellowship for her drama pilot THE SENSUALIST, which was also named one of the 10 Best Unproduced Pilots of 2023 by Filmarket Hub. Suzanne is twice a Nicholl Semifinalist, a Sundance Episodic Lab Semifinalist for her drama pilot THE AGE OF DESIRE, a CineStory Foundation TV Fellowship Finalist for her adventure pilot ALLIANCE, and an Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition Finalist.
Suzanne received her MFA from NYU Graduate Film, with prizes in producing and directing, and lives in Brooklyn, NY – her frequent muse.
