Great to meet you Phill :)
thanks for the invite Phil. Do much of my work on a triton studio-as a pianist it works well for me. Check my site if you like and listen in. Would be interested in what a probably-more-tech-savy eng. might think. Either way welcome.

Expand commentBeen out of pocket a little Phill. Good luck with the laptop. I have a good pc to record on but it never touches the net. This one is some trouble but hanging on. My triton is a Studio88 workstation/sampler, about an '02 model. As a pianist it works for me to compose on it both in improvising and in notating into Finale. I often record into the triton and do some mixing etc. there and then re-record into the computer. Right now my vir.inst. exist exclusively in the triton which is somwhat limiting without some work but I have never gotten into clicking much because playing is natural to me. I have a big investment of time in learning the capabilities of the triton. The vir.inst. may be in the near future but I still learn things about the korg. Quite an instrument. With my live recording up and running I am using more live sound as well. Let me hear some of yours sometime. Later.

I invested in NI's Komplete 8 a while back, and the sounds are out of this world when compared to the triton's library. So ill never go back.. The best thing about it is I still play everything live on my triton, just as I did with audio from the triton before i got komplete 8. The only difference is the sounds are synced virtually with a midi cable, so if I really screw up the take, I have the ability to bump things around if I need to.

Expand commentHey Phill, I'm thinking tonight that I will never let go of the triton. Though your suggestion of the Komplete 8 is an avenue that I think I should take maybe. At one point I was working with only the triton and no daw. Now I have used two or three recording programs so the midi work you are talking about is more agreeable to me. Last night I was working on a musical that has been in the works for almost a year now and, after going on vacation last week and forgetting an idea for one of the songs, I was reminded how important it is to get things "written" down. The korg makes that so easy when I don't have time to put it to finale. My re-recording chamber is very effective in creating authenticity considering my current limitations with the virtuals. If you're interested I'll tell you about it on private message sometime. I expect it might be even more effective with some additional samples. I am into the use of "traditional instruments" in non-traditional ways as a creative resource. Acoustic bass in a very high(even impossible) register for example at a strategic point in a piece of music. There are many possibilities for this. The truth is, the ability to be creative will always preempt the capabilities of the technology. Thanks for coming back. Later.
Alannah, thanks for the request! Glad to be connected. Ill be sure to check out your portfolio online! Here's a little bit more about me. Newagexmusic.com
