My name is Sakura "Suki" Jimenez. For the past 20 years, I've worked in the field of Localization where I have helped (still help) entertainment studios get their series, features, trailers, shorts, etc... dubbed and subtitled internationally. I've also worked in the field of accessibility, assisting with closed captioning, audio description, and American sign language production.
Though I still work in the localization and accessibility field part time, since 2017, I have worked many different roles within the entertainment field. I was the TV Pilot Program Curator turned Associate Program Director at DTLA (Downtown Los Angeles) Film Festival from 2017 to 2019. From 2018 to 2021, I worked on various production sets as a P.A., a key grip, a production coordinator, an on-set wardrobe supervisor, a 2nd assistant director, and a producer.
As of last year (2023), I began my voice-over journey. I have done audio description VO (voice-over) work for Apple TV series and films and a couple of Disney+ specials. And I had my first English dubbing VO gig last month, albeit a small role, for a Korean drama series that will be distributed by Netflix this year. I’m still learning about the VO business, taking VO workshop classes, and hoping to grow much further in this field.
I am also an aspiring screenwriter. After a couple of one-on-ones with a literary manager and a producer (both from two separate Stage 32 labs), I'm currently working on a 3rd fully rewritten draft of a pilot script.
And last but not least, I play the koto, which is a 13-stringed Japanese zither instrument. I typically perform as part of a koto duo and sometimes trio and sometimes with Japanese dancers at various events like private parties, libraries, cultural festivals, conventions, etc.
Perhaps it seems like I’m a bit all over the place, but I don’t see it that way. I’m a curious person, I'm a team player, and I adapt to new environments easily. I strive when learning new things, and if I’m in a more established role, I often think how I can help make something better. When I accept any job, I am focused on giving my client or employer the best product and/or performance possible.
Unique traits: Can play the koto (13-stringed Japanese zither instrument) and have performed at various events.
