Steven Shulman

Steven Shulman is the author of his memoir My Uncle Gloria, which is also the basis of the multiple award-winning documentary Uncle Gloria: One Helluva Ride (2016-2017).

Born in LA and raised in Miami Beach, Shulman has lived two lives, polar opposite of one another. Orphaned at age 18, his first life was dominated by sex, drugs, and rock n roll, including a twenty-two-year drug addiction and a two-year stint in state prison. Having cheated death on multiple occasions, Shulman completed a 30-day inpatient drug rehab program at age 35. From that day forward, he began living his second life clean and sober with determination, honesty, integrity, while building a successful career in Florida and North Carolina as a licensed insurance broker and real estate investor.

Inspired by the “transformation” of his Uncle Butch (his mother’s brother) to his “Aunt” Gloria, Shulman was driven to document how “Butch-Gloria’s” transition also transformed Shulman’s life, as he soared upwards “from the outhouse to the penthouse”.

Today, Shulman is a passionate man on a mission, dedicating his life to saving the lives of pets in distress. 80% of all net profits from the My Uncle Gloria brand will be donated to his 501 (c 3) non-profit charity, Animal Care Now. (www.AnimalCareNow.org)
