About Michael

Michael Weinreb is an award-winning journalist, screenwriter and the author of four books. His scripts have placed in the Nicholl, PAGE, Cinestory, and dozens of other contests.

His nonfiction chronicle of a Brooklyn chess team, The Kings of New York, won the Quill Award and was named one of the best books of the year by Amazon; he's also the author of Bigger Than the Game, about the growth of commercialism and the cult of personality in sports in the 1980s; and Season of Saturdays, a memoir/cultural history about how college football reflects America. His work has appeared in a number of publications, including GQ, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Grantland, Rolling Stone, and the Ringer.
