About Julie

Julie Herlocker's career has given her valuable insights into what it takes to make good television.  A director who understands how to shoot for VFX, she knows the rules of creating “other worlds” and how to keep an audience on edge.

As a Post Producer, Julie worked closely with Exec. Producers to help take 300+ episodes through prep to final lock. Not only did she oversee the finish of picture and sound, and direct all the ADR, she sat in countless tone meetings. Those sessions with show-runners and directors discussing character motivation, obstacles & intentions, as well as the politics behind the scenes were another valuable ingredient in her prep for directing.

Leaving post production for directing, Julie was selected as an Emerging Director for the DGA's 2019-2020 Mentorship Program within their Director Development Initiative.
Her recent short films “7AM Wednesday” and the brand new “A Close Call” are both great examples of tension building and strong performances. As well as lensing the other shorts she is currently writing, Julie looks forward to directing more episodic tv.

Creating continues beyond her directing career, as Julie is using her skills and experience in shaping character driven stories, developing multiple projects with her production company Shadow Art Entertainment.
