Claire Soares is a filmmaker with a strong background in various technologies that fuel her favorite screenplay genre: thrillers involving international corporations. She comes from the industries that turn out most of the greenhouse gases today (aviation, power and energy), as well as offer renewable source options. Many of her documentary films and feature narrative screenplays are on stories related to environmental pollution that in some cases, may damage underrepresented people's resources. Whether domestic or international, her screenplays are drawn from her personal experience while living and working in several countries. Her other favorite documentary subjects include wildlife, visual and cultural arts. She apprenticed in regional television, moving to producing and directing programs for which she won four Telly awards, before getting a scholarship to complete her MFA at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
