I'm a fifty something British guy who took to screenwriting to get a story out of my head. I can honestly say that a decade since I took those early courses, classes and seminars, THAT same story is STILL evolving in my head and I'm still writing it down.
Along the way of course I've been distracted. Work gets in the way. So does life. But I've allowed the stage to become a greater distraction and have been on the stage rather than writing for it. Recently however, I've got back into writing through necessity, so I've been writing theatre to be performed (and recorded/edited) via Zoom.
I also write jokes for my own amusement, Mainly one-liners which I curate and publish on Twitter @unretweetables - these have; on occasion, led me to perform a bit a stand-up, but I'm pretty rusty!
Like a million others, I want to get the story finished, but it's potentially too big a project for me. The idea was originally for a film, but it's such a BIG story with story arcs covering thousands of years, I know I may not get there. So here I am - looking for common sense and guidance and probably - a way out!
While I'm here I'll try to complete a pilot episode. Because God forbid I end up writing a film franchise which just withers on the vine as Producers try to squeeze the profitable life out of it. Does any writer sign up for that?
