Gabriela was born in Mexico in 1978. Her family was exiled from a dictatorship government in Argentina and they only moved back with the return of democracy, in December 1983. She went to the most prestigious high-school in Buenos Aires, Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, and then studied Sociology at the University of Buenos Aires. After getting a solid basis in social studies, Gabriela felt the need to move to a more artistic and collective world and found film-making and producing to be the next language she wanted to learn. She studied Production at Universidad del Cine (FUC) for three years and started working intensively in that field. At the beginning, in colleague’s projects, such as “La Prisionera”, directed by Alejo Moguillansky, or “Album Familiar” directed by Gonzalo Tobal. Soon afterwards, she started working in production for commercials, her first jobs being with Adrian Caetano,
Nicolas Perez Veiga, Martin Kalina, among others.
Gabriela worked as a free-lance production assistant, coordinator, location manager, 1st AD, Production Manager, Line Producer. She had the chance throughout these first ten years to share projects with talented people such as Ellen Kuras, Lazlo Kadar, Nacho Gayan, Martin Werner. She had the opportunity to take a key position in the production of the TV Show “The Amazing Race” in different seasons that were shot in Argentina and Chile.
Between 2006 and 2007 she was Head of Production at goodgate (www.goodgate.tv).
In 2008, she worked as a Production Manager in the pre production of “Lucky Luck”, feature film produced by UGC and serviced by K&S Films.
In 2009 she moved to Paris to perfect her French and work in the film industry. She worked in commercials and videoclips at COSA FILMS.
Back in Buenos Aires, in 2010, she joined PRIMO as the International Executive Producer. PRIMO was then a boutique production company that worked mainly for the local market. Gabriela developed the international department, both bringing productions into Argentina as well as selling international directors in the local market.
She signed an agreement of mutual representation and partnership with Iconoclast, in 2012. She also signed an agreement with Pulse Films in the UK.
In 2016 Iconoclast and Primo developed and produced a short form series with Canal Plus + Vivendi Group where Gabriela was Executive Producer. The series was nominated for the International Emmy Awards 2017 in the Best Short Form Category and it won a Gold Award as Best Integral Production at Ojo de Iberoamerica 2017.
In 2018 she was Primo’s Executive producer servicing the production of the TV Series “Aqui en la Tierra” (S02E01), filmed partially in Patagonia. Directed by Gabriel Ripstein, produced by Gael Garcia Bernal, Kyzza Terrazas, Stacie Perskie and Leandro Halperin (La Corriente del Golfo) for Fox Premium, now Star +.
“The Insubordination of the Privileged” premiered in December 2019. It is a Documentary Feature directed by Nicolas Kreplak, about access to health-care system. Gabriela worked in the screenwriting, editing and executive production. This film was produced by Foundation Soberania Sanitaria.
During the pandemic, Gabriela wrote, directed and produced, for the same fund, a documentary film called “The Future of a Life in Common”. It narrates, through the stories of Edgardo, Gabriel, Graciela, Verónica, Walter, and Carlos, the new worlds of outpatient care, the possibilities of life outside neuropsychiatric institutions. The film premiers on October 13th.
PRIMO has grown into a prestigious award-winning production company, with offices in Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Madrid, Barcelona & Mexico. Gabriela has become a Senior Executive Producer who has shot in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, London, Paris, Berlin, Lisbon, Shanghai, Toronto, Cape Town, Spain, US. She has experience in Film, TV and Advertising. She has shot with super talented directors and DPs in the advertising & film industry (Romain Gavras, Megaforce, Yoann Lemoine, Paul Geusebroek, Gustav Johansson, Nicolas Perez Veiga).
Her constant aim to improve, learn, surpass her capacities has turned her into a humble yet top-class producer who is always ready for new challenges and creative endeavours.
