About Dave

Dave Chan is an award-winning AAPI writer/filmmaker whose day jobs included working in the Medical Examiner's Office and at a bank doing IT—until he realized there was more life in a morgue. His scripts and short films have won or placed in over 50 contests worldwide including Austin Film Festival with one TV pilot currently in Coverfly's Top 2% of all half-hour comedies.

In addition, Dave recently produced "A Father's Son" a series proof-of-concept starring Ronny Chieng (Shang-Chi), Tzi Ma (Mulan), and Perry Yung (Warrior) adapted from a collection of popular detective novels written by Henry Chang.

Dave earned his MFA in TV Writing from Stony Brook University, a graduate program in partnership with Christine Vachon's Oscar-winning production company, Killer Films. He also teaches and inspires undergrads in his film and TV writing classes where he stays current on all the Gen-Z lingo.
