Hello all. I write as a hobby and hope to one day direct the screenplays, mainly low budget genre films. I'm from North Alabama and have been a film buff all my life. I do have trouble keeping my ADHD from interfering, as it is difficult to see a project thru to completion. One I have completed was entered just this year to the Austin screenplay competition so I've got my fingers crossed I could hear something back on that. Anyway I just wanted to introduce myself since I am new to an actual community.

Congrats on submitting your screenplay! Have you submitted it to any Stage 32 contests? https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/contests Also, you can ask for script exchanges with other members if you'd like to get notes on a draft. I often suggest getting Coverage when you do so, that way you can pull from a pool of notes instead of just one source: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=23 One of the biggest benefits of Stage 32 services is that you can also choose who reads your script from an executive actively in the industry: https://www.stage32.com/scriptservices/coverage/buy?id=2
Of course, there are lots of free resources, too! I’m sure you’ve already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely reach out on the Acting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/acting) for insight into characters, dialogue, and even when you want to generate interest in a virtual table read! Don't forget to add your occupation as "screenwriter" so people know how to approach you.
Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!

Expand commentHi Jesse, pleased to meet you! I understand the trouble with ADHD interfering with your work. I've learned that if you find the end of your story when you're outlining your script, I have a better chance of finishing. That's, in general, how I choose which project to write next. I truly hope that helps!

I've wondered this myself. I want to pitch the few screenplays I have done, but I'm concerned about paying for something that may not pay off.
Hi guys, I've paid in the past and I have one coming up next week. It's very useful. You get insight from folks in the industry that you're trying to break into.

Paul Bestolarides if they like your project, they will figure out how to work with you on it. Best case, they love it and it moves ahead. Worst case they give you fantastic feedback to impove.
All the best guys.
Hi Paul Bestolarides ! the pitching sessions are amazing. It's the most affordable option to get your idea to the right people, and if they like your pitch your script gets requested for a read. I wou...

I would highly encourage it, as I've tried them myself and it has been a great experience :)

The one thing that really bothered me was the reader said "please have someone look this over for spelling, punctuation, and grammar mistakes."
THEY WERE NOT. I teach English, proofread it myself, AND had someone else look at it. After the notes, I double checked. NO MISTAKES. Oh well.
I haven't done one but I'm keeping an eye out for upcoming pitch sessions as I'd like to give it a go. They go so quickly though, so my questions around this would be:

Is the written pitch as good as the virtual pitch?
Without the chance to talk, ask/answer questions, and make a connection, is the written pitch is less likely to result in a script request?
