Screenwriter and author. My first book EVE: A NOVEL was published by Bantam Dell in 2009. It was chosen for the Random House Book Club and for the Target Stores Book Club (Target Club Picks). I’ve received several writing grants and a Pushcart nomination. I was chosen for the Loft Literary Series in Minneapolis, and I’ve also optioned a screenplay based on my childhood.
Currently trying to find literary representation for my next novel and feature screenplay THE PARIS CONCERTS. I split amicably with my Writers House agent because he doesn't sell this type of novel.
There’s no feeling quite so thrilling as meeting someone who sees you, hears you, and understands you. THE PARIS CONCERTS is the story of Andrew and Margaux, two teens who meet at a Paris international piano competition. She’s sixteen and French; he’s seventeen, American, and blind. Only one of them can win, but their feelings for each other complicate the contest and their ideas of what success means. [Really, I wrote the novel after feeling immense sorrow with today’s world—how we’re all talking and gesturing past each other, not listening, not hearing, not seeing each other.]
THE PARIS CONCERTS is complete at 46,200 words and is comparable in tone to THE FAULT IN OUR STARS and the film BEFORE SUNSET with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
The screenplay is currently a quarterfinalist for the Stage 32 1st Annual Family Friendly Screenwriting Contest.
I'm working on a TV pilot for a limited, 6-episode series. Then I'll write the novel based on the series. That's the plan anyway!
