Producer, writer, director, actor in "THE HIKE". Sounds no different than most folks here except I'm old enough to be y'all's GrandPa. LOL! Maybe not THAT old, but close. Another way I'm not a typical indie filmmaker - my wife and I took out a 2nd mortgage on our house to make THE HIKE. No crowdfunding though Mom did give me some $$ (full disclosure). Graduated from UNCSA in 97 with a degree in filmmaking. Oh, I was 36 when we accepted our diplomas. I've always been late to the party - I hung onto my 8 tracks while everyone else bought cassettes, I treasured my laserdiscs while everyone else bought DVD's. I still have cable, no dish. I digress. The class after mine wasn't too shabby - David Gordon Green, Craig Zobel, Jeff Nichols, Jody Hill, actors Paul Schneider & Danny McBride. BTW - Danny was a writer in school. What too so long? I had a family. Wanted to be a husband and father, not a filmmaker. Now, son in college and with wifey's blessing, THE HIKE is born. At my age I'm all about giving back so if anyone needs advice with putting together a film, hit me up. I wore many hats to save $$ - I was 1st AD, location mgr., props, wardrobe designer, PA - I was available for any job that needed to be done. DO IT!
Unique traits: I'm no different than anyone here except...maybe I'm the first 54 year old to make a first feature film with my own money. :-)
