Andrea Izzy Anthony is a screenwriter, filmmaker, and actor.
A native of North Carolina, Izzy spent her formative years slinging popcorn at an indie movie theatre, where she caught the acting bug and a love of oddball characters.
She holds a BFA in Acting from UNCGreensboro, attended the Maggie Flanigan Meisner Conservatory Program, and studied at Upright Citizens Brigade and Kimball Studios.
Her life took an unexpected turn when an illness changed her trajectory. She spent four years searching for the diagnosis of a rare disease. After a successful pituitary neurosurgery, she reinvented herself as an award-wining retail-real estate broker in NYC. During the same time, she honed her acting and directing chops. She spent a decade and a half in the city navigating corridors of cubicles and audition doors, before heading south to rediscover nature and focus on her writing and directing.
After completing her MFA in Filmmaking from The UNC School of the Arts, she is currently developing several episodic comedies that explore audacious optimism and quirky vulnerability in worlds where whimsy and awe take the lead.
As a filmmaker she has directed a myriad of projects including The Cabin, a post-apocalyptic short film about the challenge of relationship, Inaudible Encouragements, an experimental film about illness, and Riding High, an animated film about donuts. She is currently in post-production for the series proof-of-concept for Family Meal, and Fly to You, an animated VR short film exploring grief.
She has an insatiable love of puppets, is known to geek out about history, and loves a great rock concert.
Scout-Worthy Sci-fi ⋄ Comedy When a neurotic desk-jockey accidentally gets selected for migration by an alien scout and his infatuated border collie, she, unknowingly, must pass a series of tests in nature to prove she is an awesome earthling worthy of being saved from an impending planetary disaster.
