Wendy’s passion for the media industry began in 1991 when joining the Rhema Television Department as a volunteer. Through 30 years of dedicated volunteer work, she benefited from multiple in-house training and gained much knowledge and experience working in the control room and various Outside Broadcast conferences and special events. At the time Wendy was working in the corporate world therefore media was voluntary and freelance work was conducted in her spare time.
In 2000 Wendy successfully completed a Video Camera Operation Course, both practical and theory, with theory modules including the camera; lenses; vision mixing; vision control; auxiliary play-outs; lighting setup and technique; basic sound and sound mixing; outside broadcast; practical camera operation including ENG set up (inclusive of sound and lights) shot compilation, recording of project for submission to editor.
In 2010 Wendy left the corporate world to pursue a full-time career in the media and entertainment industry . She took the bold step of starting and growing her company, Arrow Vision Productions CC, where she and Grant (husband and cameraman) filmed many youth events and conferences. For these events, Wendy had to wear multiple caps, and found herself taking on the role of production coordinator, multi-cam director & vision mixer. In most cases Wendy also carried out the post-production edits to ensure a high quality final product for her clients.
In January 2017 Wendy believed the need to diversify and so together she and Grant purchased new jib and camera equipment and Apple iMac with FCPX10. Wendy then focused on growing the business into the entertainment industry where both she and Grant use their skills as freelancers. The business also grew into being a one stop solution for theatre shows such as dance showcases and conferences, from inception to final product.
In December 2017 Grant left the engineering world, and Wendy and Grant registered AVP Media Productions (Pty) Ltd as partners. Wendy has grown the business to include working on film sets for Arise Films, Studio work for Siyaya Moja Love such as Highly Inappropriate with Phat Joe, Rea Tsotella, Too Much Information and Show Me Love. She has built relationships with BarLeader TV where they have been crew for many special events such as Black Coffee Exclusive, Winnie Mandela Memorial Event, AKA concert at Sun Arena to name a few. Wendy and Grant have also worked on projects with Directors such as Chester Ramulifho and Teddy Geldart for Live Concerts, Music DVD’s and Virtual concerts. Wendy manages the daily operations of the business and project management from concept to post-production.
