Hi, I'm Janet. I combine many years of improv, acting and sketch experience with a career in corporate America to write real world, women centered stories about the absurdities of human behavior. I like to explore the topics that most people avoid at all costs: aging, death, grief, loss, change, telling the truth, personal responsibility, and being yourself in front of friends, family and co-workers. I find the fear and awkwardness wrapped up in doing the hard stuff both tragic and funny. I draw from study in psychology and history, tons of traveling, my immigrant experience, friends, family, co-workers, and time lived in rural and city settings to build rich characters who are finding their way in this crazy world. Right now, I am excited to pitch my 30-min single-camera dramedy: Leaving the Party.
Leaving the Party Budget: $100K - $1M | Comedy Fed up with the myth of the American Dream, five women risk everything to devise their own take on retiring together. Their lifelong friendships are tested when the mastermind of the bunch reveals she intends to off herself. Golden Girls meets Nomadland.
