Sharony is a native of Miami, Florida, with roots in the U.S. South and the Bahamas. Her narrative feature sci-fi screenplay RAIN COME SOON, which receives inspiration from an award-winning book she wrote, placed first in the 2021 Reel SIsters of the Diaspora Film Festival, the first Academy Award qualifying fest for shorts by women of color. The pilot for THE GROVE, Sharony's half hour episodic drama about her childhood neighborhood, was a Stowe Story Labs semifinalist. She just completed UNGODLY BLUE, another narrative feature screenplay, receiving inspiration in part from her book on Zora Neale Hurston's visit to 1940s Honduras for which she recently signed a book contract. Sharony co-directed and co-produced THE GRANT GREEN STORY, a jazz doc feature about the legendary jazz guitarist who is her former father in law. The film premiered at the 2016 Harlem International Film Festival.
