About Wanda

I've been a writer since middle school but got serious about it some years ago. Writing is my jam, my nemesis, savior and go to when life surprises me with brilliant rainbows or thundering rain. I write dramas and thrillers although I tried my hand at comedy writing and wrote a dramedy called "Dating on the Edge of 50". I just finished a book inspired by the life of my great uncle, the first black doctor in Gainesville, Florida in the 1940's who carried a pistol in his medical bag and worked with the F.B.I. to solve mysterious murders of black folks. It started out as a script for episodic TV.

Originally from Los Angeles, I've lived in Atlanta, Georgia and Northern California and presently reside in Las Vegas. I've had three shorts developed into short films and won screenwriting awards for several scripts I wrote. The Austin Film Festival called my script based on the life of my great uncle, "a story that must be told" and gave me a "recommend" as a writer and the script a "consider." I'm now calling it "A Reckoning in Gainesville." I'm also the contributing writer of a book on Amazon called "Your Honor, Your Honor."

I've been a member of the Stage 32 community for years and have benefited from the sage advice of producers and writing seminars.
Stage 32 has definitely allowed me to grow and develop as a writer and I've recommended it to other filmmakers.

I relax by writing, swimming and traveling. My hope is that my book will get published this year and I'll get several scripts produced. Looking forward to networking and collaborating with other like-minded individuals. Creatives, let's unite!
