Joseph directed the film, which marked actor Ben McKenzie's (Gotham, Southland, and The O.C.) first starring role in a feature film.
Joseph and writing partner, Derek Heeren, have written The Pottsville Maroons, based on the true story of the early days of the National Football League and a coal miner who traded in his pick-ax for a football, carrying his small town's team to the 1925 NFL Championship, only to have it unjustly forfeited. The screenplay was initially developed as a co-production with Penny Marshall. NFL Hall of Fame Sportswriter, Ray Didinger, is the film's Story Consultant. Joseph & Heeren's screenplay, The Hex, is a teen horror/suspense/romance set in the Pennsylvania Amish country.
Joseph began his career as the Producing Director for acclaimed writer/director, Garry Marshall. Under his management Marshall's Falcon Theatre established itself as one of the premiere, award-winning, professional theaters in Southern California. Joseph produced over 50 different productions starring such notable actors as Rami Malek, Joe Mantegna, Yeardley Smith, Ana Ortiz, Daniel Stern, Charles Durning, Jack Klugman, and Michael Learned to name a few.
As an actor, he began his career as a member of the prestigious Mirror Repertory Company in New York City alongside Academy Award-winners Anthony Hopkins, Geraldine Page and F. Murray Abraham. He has been seen in leading roles in over 50 stage productions in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and across the U.S. TV credits include roles on the final season of the Netflix series, Ozark, the Emmy Award-winning HBO series, Veep, opposite Julia Louis Dreyfus and Hugh Laurie. Other TV credits include Gilmore Girls, Boston Legal, Breakout Kings, Arrest & Trial and a recurring role on the HBO series Treme. His film credits include The Campaign with Will Ferrell, The Princess Diaries 2 with Anne Hathaway, Raising Helen with Kate Hudson, Grudge Match starring Robert DeNiro and Sylvester Stallone, Barefoot with Evan Rachel Wood, National Lampoon's Snatched and Chronic Town at the Sundance Film Festival. He can next be seen in The Hill starring Dennis Quaid & Scott Glenn and Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion.
