Mr. Marks, an Hasidic Orthodox Jewish immigrant from Romania owns a fabric shop frequented by Esther Mills, a seamstress from rural North Carolina. Through their mutual passion for fabric, a relationship develops, testing Mr. Marks' religious beliefs and Esther's belief in true love.
