Lauren writes stories that emulate the human experience, often taking her characters on a journey of self-discovery and understanding. This theme is reflective of the many phases and transformations she's experienced throughout her and her family's life, which is displayed in the dramas she's developing. Some personal examples - her parents divorced after her mother came to terms with the fact she was not living her truth...as a member of the LGBTQ community; her Aunt lived a fast-paced life and was reborn, spreading her passion for ministry through our family; and my Uncle and father learning how to navigate right from wrong after being raised by a hustler and drug dealer - my Grandfather. Lauren's own experience includes growing up in a divorced household, a failed engagement, and revamping her life in a five-year time span to get back to pursuing her passion: writing...and it's just the beginning. We're all characters navigating through life, and Lauren's purpose is to share these experiences with the world.
She is a second career writer with work experience in the advertising tech industry and holds a degree in Media Studies and Legal Studies from Pitzer College. In the past, she's interned with Oakland Police Department, worked with women who were in gangs, and helped provide research for the Anti-Police Terror Project. She has gravitated towards crime dramas, particularly shows and films with a social message and theme about race, gender, class, and inequality. During her free time, she volunteers with local non-profit organizations like Skate Like a Girl, Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and is an advocate for equal housing opportunities and giving back to the community.
Lauren would love to write for an FX show; her favorite TV shows are Snowfall, Breaking Bad, and The Shield. Her latest pilot, FALSE SECURITY, has been praised as her best work by her mentor, Ron McCants, and her first pilot, FORGOTTEN SONS, has received eight accolades. She is currently producing her first short film THIRTEEN MOUNTAINS.
