Talaya Grimes is the C.E.O. of T Muse Media. She helps clients and collaborators make docs, films, live events, plays, podcasts, and series. She is focused on producing the first and second features of women and BIPOC writers/directors. She creates original content too. She is currently directing and producing the documentary Reconstructing Education with The Literacy Project, where she is also a Senior Producer. The Literacy Project is a nonprofit focused on making documentaries on the history of literacy as a social movement in the United States and Latin America. She is producing an audio series that will examine the organizational history and social impact of The Africa Grantmakers' Affinity Group. She is also producing an experimental short on New York City during Covid-19. Talaya produced the short film Hess for iDirectMotion, winning Best Director and Film at Howard University's 2021 Paul Robeson Awards, Best Experimental Short at the 2021 Toronto Independent Film Festival. It is an official selection of the 2021 Cannes Pan African Film. It is an official selection of the 2022 Prague Independent Film Festival. She produced the short film N.O.S. about a young women's struggle with mental illness, available on Amazon. Talaya has worked for Discovery Channel, National Geographic, PBS, and Smithsonian Networks in various production roles, including Associate Producer, Business Development Associate, Operations Manager, Production Coordinator, and Researcher. She was the Operations Director for the Association of Commercial Stock Footage Licensors (ASCIL). She was a Director of Communication and Development for Humanities DC, where she managed grants, created arts and humanities programming, and produced a local art T.V. series. She has taught film history and production management at Prince George's Community College. Talaya has been on the Board of Creative Edge Collaborative and Women in Film of Washington, DC, and Women in Film International.
