My name is Carter and I am an art director and filmmaker based in Brooklyn, NY. I graduated Cum Laude with a BFA in Filmmaking from Montclair State University in 2020, and spent my 4 years there working as a scene shop assistant for live theatrical productions.
This summer I was able to put my latest short "Apparition" through the festival circuit, and after an amazing run it is fully available online for viewing. "Apparition" features a set I designed and built myself, which gives the film a lively and ethereal backdrop to it's sorrowful tale of supernatural love. I've attached the film's trailer down below!
I am on the lookout for paid art department positions in the NYC area. While I have 4 years of scenic experience under my belt (painting/building/floorplans/etc.), my strengths also lie in concept art, storyboard, illustration, set dressing, character design, and utilizing digital art programs.
I would love to connect with other artists in my field. My biggest inspiration is seeing what other artists are working on and what they have to offer each other. I am always open to connect and network!
My best to you all and keep staying safe!

I got my BFA in Film & Video Production from Regis University in Denver, CO, but I bet learning in NY was WAY cooler! Also, kudos for jumping into art direction! So many people aim for director they forget that art director can be just as important.
You may have already discovered the Filmmaking Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing), but definitely check out the Animation Lounge ( ) to meet like-minded creatives as well!
Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my blog post on how to get the most out of the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!
