Trisha Burke

My love affair with theatre started in my small midwestern town when cast in a summer theatre camp in 5th grade — not only did I act but also assisted the director with stage work. I was hooked. I remained involved in theatre throughout h.s. and college, but I loved the behind-the-scenes work more than the stage work. After college, I traveled as a cast member with 225 students from 23 countries in Up With People where I gained more entertainment experience and saw the world. One year later, I landed in a classroom in my hometown where I taught English and directed theatre. My career as a teacher lasted 27 years over which I directed at least 70+ shows (variety, one-acts, fall plays, and musicals). While directing, I wrote and produced several one-act plays for competition. In 2015, I received my master's in Creative Writing for Entertainment where I wrote my first screenplay based on the young men I mentored throughout my years teaching and directing.

After I finished my master's degree, I landed a job in the non-profit sector as a content director and writer at Native Hope. Last year, I took the plunge to start my own creative LLC: SolePen. Through my company, I hope to explore options as a writer and creator. So, cheers to new challenges...
