About Tanveer

Tanveer Pial, who, as a boy, dreamt of filmmaking. Yet in his journey of pursuing the dream, he never, for a moment, lost sight of reality. From a young age, he always found himself attracted towards visuality, continuously captivated by vibrant colors.

In his boyhood, the lives of wildlife journalists fascinated him. Watching National Geographic or Animal Planet programs, he'd thrill to imagine the adventures these journalists might have experienced. This enthralling mix of storytelling and exploration sparked a passion, and he decided to become a wildlife journalist himself, documenting the lives of these creatures and living a life of adventure.
But as he grew, his world revolved more and more around cinema. Surrounded by friends and peers who shared his passion for film, ignited a clear inner voice—it wasn't just about the visuals, the colors, or the adventurous lives of wildlife journalists; it was a constant pull towards filmmaking. With this resolve, he dedicated his life to this calling, making filmmaking his sole career path. Films became an integral part of his daily life.

But humans are beyond planning. He had to go through personal life, and crisis as well, and as Bangladesh's film industry, while vibrant, can be a challenging place to build a secure career, he had to adjust his filmy life accordingly and dive into the corporate world, initially joining journalism, then transitioning to Public Relations and finally landed in Marketing roles at universities for over a decade. Yet, even during this detour, filmmaking remained his guiding light. Rather, he channeled his storytelling instincts into content creation for the universities, a way to hone his storytelling skills. In his free time, he actively pursued filmmaking by freelancing on documentary projects, writing scripts, and even taking on occasional acting roles. Further, in 2022, he published his first book, "Cinema Dekhar Chokh," which is a book on film appreciation.

In essence, his professional journey, which revolved around filmmaking, served as a foundation for his cinematic ambitions. He was making his ground in reality strong before making a jump for his dream. Years later, brimming with confidence and financial security, he decided to create his first film, "Return", which would be an experiment, allowing him to explore his strengths, weaknesses, and preparedness for the filmmaking world.

In 2024, he made his debut as director with his short-film "Return", which was widely appreciated on YouTube and social media platforms and was even critically acclaimed. Before the premiere of his first film, "Return," he began production on his second film, "A Country of No Hope," which would be released next year (2025), alongside his two upcoming books.

With a passion for storytelling, Tanveer Pial's filmmaking journey has just begun!

    Return (2023 - 2024)
Film (short) by Tanveer Pial (Drama and Short) Director/Producer Haunted by repeated failures in the grueling government job exams, the young man stood on the precipice of despair. The weight of unpaid rent compounded his crushing disappointment. A makeshift noose, a cruel parody of the future, awaited. Just as hopelessness threatened to consume him, a jarring rap on the door shattered the suffocating silence. He inched towards the threshold, a prisoner of his despair. The world outside, once vibrant, now feels muted. A burst of color, however, pierced the gloom—a vibrant bouquet cradled a letter, a beacon in the storm. The message, whose contents unknown, became a lifeline, pulling him back from the brink. As he tentatively reconnected with the world, the rhythmic scrape of a razor echoed in the bathroom. A slow, deliberate shave, a ritual of self-care, a symbol of rebirth. The serenity was shattered once more by a knock, sharp and insistent. Hope, tentatively nurtured, flickered again. Emerging, half-shaved and vulnerable, he stood face-to-face with the source of the interruption. The delivery boy, oblivious to the drama within, bore a cheerful smile and a package. The delivery, a herald of unexpected joy, is revealed to be a case of mistaken identity, destined for someone else's door. Yet, in the face of this minor setback, he held firm. The world, though indifferent, no longer felt entirely hostile.
