Roland began his career as a trailer editor, then became a senior marketing executive at 20th Century Fox, before turning his focus to directing commercials, television, and documentaries. His credits include “In the Director’s Chair”, an HBO “mockumentary” on Tim Burton’s formative years, Revenge of the Nerds III, Tales from the Crypt, and recent ads for Tubi. He has directed content for marketing campaigns including the Alvin & the Chipmunks, Kingsman, and Ice Age franchises, plus brands like Walt Disney Parks, Universal Studios Theme Park, Nickelodeon, and AARP. He earned Clio Awards for his investigative look at Ciudad Juarez for FX's The Bridge, and a “debunking” of Ice Age: Collision Course with Neal deGrasse Tyson. Currently, Roland is in production on a feature-length documentary, Play The Game: A Jock 'N' Roll Story which chronicles the lives of six Northwestern football players from the 1970s who went from being on the worst college team in the country to becoming bodyguards for rock legends Queen.
