Hello, Stage 32 Family!
Yes, another amazing month is in the books for all of us in the Stage 32 Community, and once again it is time to celebrate the always impressive progress of our incredible members. This is our monthly opportunity to spotlight some of the writers and creatives in our Stage 32 family and share their stories of success with everyone! We’re so inspired by their hard work and persistence, and it’s made all the more satisfying when that hard work starts to pay off.
Without further ado, let’s dive into the signings, deals, meetings, script requests, and all of the fun happenings from the month of July…
Congrats to our member Pat Semler, whose short script was selected as the winner of the Palm Springs Women in Film & Television Contest and produced into a short film, with a prize of $10,000.00 as the budget. Pat recently detailed the whole experience in a Stage 32 blog (to read it click here), from being told that she had won, through the development of the script and all the way into production of the short itself!
Congrats to our member Rita Avellar, who is currently directing her first short film entitled “The Fat Lady – She Just Wanted to Be Called by Her Name”. The journey for the film took over 10 years and involved overcoming some tough personal health issues. Please read her upcoming blog so you can read her story in her own words, but it is inspiring to see that Rita has emerged resilient and has completed shooting the film.
Congrats to writer Bradford Richardson, whose script MERRILY ALL THE WAY has been discovered by Exec and Producer Kristen Lucas, who was looking for a new Holiday-themed film to produce. They make such an amazing team and will also be sharing their story in an upcoming blog.
Congrats to member Michael Shapiro who is now working with Exec and Literary Manager Eileen Cope on the respective project that he discussed with Eileen during a Consultation Call.
