Happy Sunday, Creative Army!

First, congratulations to all of you who have already participated in our monthly Introduce Yourself Weekend! Thousands of connections have been made between entertainment creatives and professionals from around the globe. Whether you are a long-time member or brand new to Stage 32, take a moment to pop over to the Introduce Yourself Lounge and say hello before the end of the weekend.

In this video from Corridor Crew, they’re diving into the history of one of the most important VFX shots of all time from James Cameron’s 1989 classic, The Abyss. Then challenged themselves to recreate the effect with modern VFX tools that are available to creators today. It’s a fantastic look back on the early days of CGI and the impact that it has had on modern cinema. What I truly love about this video is their attention to not just educating themselves on the history, but their dedication to applying these techniques themselves. Educating ourselves is only one part of the process. The knowledge that we’re collecting to refine our skills won’t get us very far if we’re not using them!

Practice will always make perfect. We can all talk as much as we want about creating something someday. Writing that script, eventually. Making that film when the time is right. But if you don’t push yourself to try, make mistakes, overcome obstacles, get outside of your comfort zone, and apply all that you’re learning, then someday will never come. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and psyching yourself out before you even begin, then ask yourself, “Where can I be more disciplined in my life and make the time to start?” Learn more in this video!

As always, here at Stage 32, we love to share stories and knowledge with our fellow film fans. Know someone who would love this content? Share it with them! Tag them below!
