Happy Sunday Creative Army!
I've got my coffee and hand and your weekly dose of content coming in hot - grab your coffee of choice and let's dive right in.
First up, The Hollywood Reporter recently hosted a roundtable discussion featuring executives from the entertainment industry's top companies. This video features Jennifer Salke (Amazon), Scott Stuber (Netflix) Donna Langley (Universal), Jim Gianopulos (Paramount), Tom Rothman (Sony), Alan Horn (Disney), and Toby Emmerich (Warner Brothers). In this hour-long discussion, these executives talk about streaming vs theatrical release strategies, how to avoid making a "bad" movie, and so much more.
Next up, renowned cinematographer Roger Deakins (Fargo, No Country for Old Men, Jarhead, The Shawshank Redemption) sits down with Rotten Tomatoes to break down some highlights of his long and successful career. In this video, they discuss examples from his more recent work Skyfall, 1917, Blade Runner: 2045. Roger discusses the complex use of a continuous shot in 1917, working with special effects in Blade Runner, and the importance of being involved early on with location scouting and production design in Skyfall.
