Seeking screenwriters in Atlanta, Georgia

Title: The Grandfather’s Journal Format: Feature Film (Historical Drama / True Story) Location: Remote or Atlanta-based preferred Compensation: Paid (open to negotiation based on experience) Project Overview: I’m seeking a screenwriter or script consultant to help develop a feature film based on a real 1934 family journal. The story begins with a young Brooklyn father writing after the death of his infant son. His handwritten journal — beginning with the line “This journal will describe how the days go after the death of our baby” — becomes a quiet, intimate record of grief, resilience, and love during the Great Depression. The film will be character-driven, emotionally grounded, and historically rich — in the tone of Brooklyn, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, or The Notebook. The journal is a real family artifact, and I’ve written a 1–2 page story summary that captures the arc and tone. I’m now looking for a collaborator to help shape the treatment and/or screenplay. Ideal Collaborator: Experienced in true story adaptationsComfortable with historical or period dramaSkilled in emotionally subtle, character-driven storytellingSensitive to themes of grief, healing, and family legacyOpen to collaboration with the story’s real-life descendant Deliverables: Treatment (10–20 pages) or screenplay outlinePotential for full script collaboration if there’s a strong fit To Apply: Please send a short note about your background, relevant writing samples (or links), and why this project resonates with you. I’m especially interested in writers who value emotional truth and quiet storytelling. Thank you for considering this deeply personal and meaningful project. — Laura

City Knights (Animated Series)

Seeking screenwriters, storyboard artists, art directors and 12 more in Tooele, Utah, Park City, Utah and Salt Lake City, Utah

Logline: Two kind-hearted but physically weak firefighter washouts are transformed into super-strong heroes after a lab explosion. Now, they must navigate their unwieldy new powers and defy city authorities to protect their new home from their former bullies, who were warped by the same blast into powerful supervillains. Series Pitch (Short): "City Knights" is a half-hour animated action-comedy that blends in a high-stakes action of a superhero show with the humor and the heart of a workplace comedy. It's Zootopia meets Captain America/My Hero Academia. Visual Style & Art Direction Overview: The visual language of City Knights rejects the "noodle-limb" and "bobblehead" tropes of traditional slapstick cartoons. Instead, the show utilizes a grounded, anatomical approach to character designs, paired with high-contrast, iconic color philosophy. Key Design Pillars Skeletal Structure: Characters are built on a human-adjacent skeletal framework adapted for their species. Limbs have defined joints (elbows, knees, wrists) and do not bend like rubber hoses. Shoulders and hips have weight and proper placement. Proportionate Anatomy: Hands and feet are proportionate to the body - no giant "Mickey Mouse" gloves or oversized clown shoes. If a character wears boots, they look like functional tactical gear, not bulbous shapes. Moderate Stylization: While not hyper-realistic, the designs avoid extreme exaggeration. A character's head size fits their body mass. Facial expressions rely on facial musculature rather than extreme distortion. Functional Clothing: Gear, uniforms, and casual wear sit on the body naturally, showing folds and weight appropriate for the material. Physicality: The "Super-Strength" is conveyed through leverage, weight distribution, and muscle tension, rather than just "cartoon physics". When Kip lifts the car, you see the strain in his stance and the ground cracking beneath his boots. Color Palette Strategy (Iconic Saturation) Distinct Character Hues: Similar to iconic arcade heroes (like the Sonic cast), each character "owns" a specific, highly saturated primary color. This ensures instant readability during fast-paced action and distinct silhouettes. Vibrant Contrast: We avoid muddy earth tones or hyper-realistic fur textures. If Kip is blue, he is a vibrant, electric Cobalt blue, not a grey-blue. If Kacey is red, she is a sharp Crimson. Clean Color Blocking: Colors do not blend into gradients; they use clean, distinct separation between fur, skin/muzzle, and clothing. This gives a show a "pop" aesthetic without compromising the structural realism of the anatomy.  Series Overview Format: Half-hour animated series Genre: Action-Comedy, Superhero, Animation Audience: 8-14 (All-ages) Tone: A mix of high-octane action, the fish-out-of-water comedy of Kip Fields (Blue Fox) and Kacey Flowers (Red Fox) adapting to their new bodies, and the heartfelt drama of a "found family" team. Themes: Heart vs. Brawn (The central theme. True heroism comes from a desire to help, not from physical superiority.), Finding Your Place (What happens when one thing you wanted (to be strong enough) is given to you, but it costs you your old life?), Public vs. Private Heroism (The Knights must operate outside the law, saving people who are simultaneously afraid of them.), Found Family: The core team (Kip, Kacey, Vicky the Purple Wolf, Angie the Pink Pronghorn, Rhett the Green Frog, and Ryder the Orange Lion) against the world.
