Networking is one of the biggest things in the film and TV industries. Here are some tips for networking I’ve picked up over the years:
See networking as building relationships/getting to know people/making friends.
Don’t bring up your project or ask for a job/opportunity as soon as you meet someone (online or in person). Build the relationships first. Even if you’re some place where there’s not a lot of time to build a relationship (like an airport – unless there’s a flight delay), you can still take a few seconds or minutes to get to know the person before bringing up your project or asking for a job/opportunity.
If you’re not sure what to talk about, ask the person what’s their favorite movie, writer, director, actor, book, sports team, etc.
If you don’t wanna talk about a favorite movie, writer, director, etc., check the person’s Stage 32 profile, their other social media, website, or IMDb to find something to talk about. Example: Some members post their unique traits and hobbies on their Stage 32 profiles.
Volunteering to help with people’s projects is a great way to build relationships.
Check in with people (ask how they’re doing, ask how their projects are going, etc.). It’ll help grow your relationships.
Don’t be pushy when networking. Be professional and respectful.
Here are some blogs about networking I suggest checking out: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41
Stage 32 has in-person Meetups that are great for networking (www.stage32.com/meetups). The Meetup section is updated regularly. And if you don't see a Meetup in your area, you could start your own.
Feel free to post your networking tips in the comments.

How does the Meet Ups work?

Hey, Kevin Hager. The Meetups are free. You can attend Meetups and network with other creatives and industry professionals. Here's the link to the Meetups (www.stage32.com/meetups). If you don't see a Meetup in your area, keep an eye on that page for new Meetups. And you're welcome to start your own Meetup.

Attend a Meetup or start your own Meetup, Kevin Hager?

Both. But how do job postings work?
P.S. Do some film companies have contest where the winner gets to work with the company?
Kevin Hager Go to one of the Meetups and click the green “Click Here to Join This Meetup” button on the right, then make a reservation for the Meetup.
To start your own Meetup, go to the Meetups page and look on the left. Click the “Add a Stage 32 Meetup” button and fill out the information.
You can search for jobs on the Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs). You can post ads on the Job Board too by clicking the "Add a Job Posting" button on the left of the page.
I'm not sure if film companies have contests where the winner gets to work with the companies.

If I post a job, how do I get contacted by the person who is interested?
We could find out, because I had this thought of a "Fan Contest" where a winner can work with the company who holds it.1 person likes this
I haven't posted a job on here yet, but I think you'll get a notification or message telling you that someone applied for your job, Kevin Hager.

I searched for Fan Contest type competitions, but I wasn't able to find any, Kevin Hager.

Then we should try to make one, by pitching to a company. I would start with Disney.
