I noticed as well. The common thread was various people added a "like". Why would you go back umpteen paged in any lounge area, read and like a bunch of random old stuff?
It depends if you like the aha erlebnis or feel like sh.. I missed that post earlier. Could be valuable but needs to be kept down to an (absolute) minimum. Of couse then the question becomes'"what ratio/algorithm" should we be talking about? Is it even possible to change anything (without mature costs). And yes, the site will be (partly) down for a while; you can't have your cake and eat it,
JD - I liked what you wrote...so I 'liked' it (hope that doesn't screw up the works). I try to stay contemporary.
Erik - ya, those old posts are searchable and valuable but keep in mind that what you are researching may not be what others are researching - take the knowledge from them but let them stay in the past.
Forgetting the past is a sure way to screw up the present and future. If the posting was worthwhile years ago, no reason for it to not be informative now.
Folks here were typing to threads every day last year 2018. There is obviously some website Troll in respect of the fact on most Topics eg Directing and even Anything Goes .....comments are donkeys years old. Its been going on for weeks but its not rocket science to fix. What went wrong?
I do not disrespect thread Archives. But thousands of comments were made in between. Why are we reading six and seven year posts? We will never be a dank magnolia space on the web, but we are becoming f........ history! LOL
Old posts pop to the top with a click of the "like" button, newer posts then become buried. Simple as that. Create a new topic in any lounge area and by afternoon it's many pages back, buried behind stuff 1 or more years old. Seems to be an attack at the financial value of this website.
Curious about this as well.

Search for the information, but please don't resurrect them with a "like". Some of the thread creators are long gone anyway.
Tried. Doesn't appear to have been accepted.

Andrew Sobkovich, I agree.. I've only just started using past successes, combining them with the present, to project to the future.
Correction. My poem for my mum Kathleen 'The Saint' has been accepted should anyone wish to view it.
There's a darker reason why these old posts are popping up. They contain nothing of value.
No you're totally wrong. The old posts with one or no replies have been "weaponized". You simply lack the ability to see the mechanism behind it.
So they can advertise their porn sites......
Excuses continue to be made for a flawed membership system. ....and so more bogus or robot memberships will continue to pop up.
They put out mousetraps and caught the mice, but they didn't plug the hole(s) were they are getting in.
