Some basic financing structures explained

Hi everyone. For a lot of newcomers or people looking to move up a level in their financing, there can be a lot of vague or conflicting information out there. Former Netflix executive Zac Reeder has sat down with Film Courage and explained some basic structures for film financing at different levels. They won't apply for every project, but for people looking to familiarise themselves with some basic structures it may help. If you're new to this side of things, I'd suggest pausing the video whenever you hear a term you are unfamiliar with (equity, family office, gap finance, debt lender, tax credit, foreign sales companies, domestic backstop etc.) to look it up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VwKtbiu3nI

Ewan Dunbar Interesting interview. It covers most of the core components of film financing: tax incentives and credits (33%), presales (33%), and equity (33%). He also emphasizes the importance of attaching 'big names' to a project, which is crucial not only for marketing the film but also for securing financing.
