Hi everybody! My name's Caitie, new member here. I've been working in the Toronto theatre scene for the last 7 years as a playwright and dramaturg, and am looking to branch out into the world of film and television. Big dream is to work as a writer on animated projects/series. Anyone else here big into animation? Would love to chat! Looking forward to figuring this place out, and making some connections.
Bryn Chamberlain Thanks Bryn! Love Toronto - it's my hometown. :)
Pleased to meet you, Catie! Coincidentally, I'm writing an animated fantasy feature spec right now.

Caitie, nice to meet you. I have been working in 3D modeling and a limited amount of animation. Lately I've be more focused on writing.
Hey Caitie, even though I am an American, I went to York U. in Downsview, for Theatre back when the earth was still cooling. I am not into animation as a writer, but I love watching it. I had a producer ask me if I had thought about turning my live action Christmas script into an animated film. I said I don't know how to do that! Any chance you would like to read my script and give me your thoughts on turning it into an animated script? Best, Deb S.
Thanks Matthew and Gerard! Lovely to meet you both as well. Thanks for sharing, David - I'll be sure to check out your work! :) And Deb, so cool you went to York! I have lots of friends who graduated from that program. I'd love to give you feedback on your script, but I'm super early in my career writing for animation - I've been educating myself about it and have spoken to some peers in the industry, but have no experience working professionally in the field (yet!). I might not have what you're looking for, but I wish you best of luck with the project!
Thanks, Caitie.I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Great to meet you, Caitie Graham, and welcome to the community! Oh, cool, congratulations on your stage success! I also started out in theatre (straight out of high school), but took a segue to make my own money so I could pay my way through film school.
You can totally write for animation! You may have already discovered the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting), but definitely check out the Authoring & Playwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/playwriting) and the Animation Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/animation) to meet more like-minded creatives!
Keep in mind that these lounges are like the VIP Filmmaker's Lounges at Film Festivals, so this is where you can meet the people doing the work, get advice on anything you're working on, and/or give back to those who may need advice. We're a very supportive and encouraging community! I think you'd also enjoy my blog post on how to get the most out of the Stage32 Community:

Enjoy exploring the lounges, and don't forget to comment and respond to others’ posts, too! It's the best way to really connect! And, of course, feel free to reach out at any time. Cheers!
yeah I'm not big into unless someone makes me lol
Hi Kay, thank you for the helpful advice and for next steps on how to use the lounges. I've been slowly checking things out over the last few days. Already learning a ton! :)

Welcome, Caitie Graham. I'm into animation big time. As a writer animation opens up a world of possibilities without the need for CGI. Love to connect.
Thanks MB! I feel the same way. I'd love to connect sometime as well - whole new world for me!
