I'm a comedian and screenwriter living in a cemetery. My husband is the caretaker, and it allows us to live our creative lives to the fullest. Starting out as a redneck drag king (Cletus T. Crickenberger on YouTube), over the course of 10 years, I taught myself how to film and edit, improvise, write sketch, and act, through a live and online presence. During a stint with a broken ankle and a few too many prescriptions, I wrote the book "Bad Sex Poems", 69 poorly written erotic poems that have been performed on stage, and which I hope to turn into a podcast. Currently, I've served as head writer on the 100 hr film race project "Ovum Easy", and am a writer, editor, actor, producer for the show "@warriorprincess10000" on YouTube. Though I live in a cemetery, and have a horror spec under my belt, my short family script "Clouds" was winner in the VPA Hampton Roads script competition. I have also written two comedy pilots on the topic of life in a cemetery and reincarnation, and am actively working on a feature length script that highlights the comedy of life in the evangelical south.
I'm so glad to be able to find community here, especially if you have an eye for dark comedy, and am always excited to join in on other's projects, in the hopes of learning more. You can find some of my own work at Linktree.com/CarlyCrickenberger
And for anyone left wondering, YES our neighbors ARE quiet.

How interesting. I have written a pilot that takes place in a cemetery. Would you be up to filming a pilot series in your cemetery?

Hi, Carly Crickenberger. You definitely have a great name for a comedian. "I'm a comedian and screenwriter living in a cemetery" made me laugh.

Stephen, I have definitely filmed here before. However, the property is owned by a non profit, and for something not personally related to me, you would need to go through them. I'm happy to talk with you more about it, if you'd shoot me a message!

This is the funniest intro I've read in a while Carly Crickenberger - I'm sorry about the broken ankle though. I've had that happen and it's pretty rough. So glad you're with us!

Carly Crickenberger, this introduction made my day. I’m Ashley Smith, the Head of Community here at Stage 32, and I just want to say, yes, you absolutely do have the perfect name for a comedian, and yes, I now need to see everything Cletus T. Crickenberger has ever done.
Your journey, from redneck drag king to dark comedy screenwriter living in a cemetery, is equal parts inspiring, hilarious, and wildly original. The way you’ve taught yourself across so many disciplines and built a life rooted in storytelling is exactly the kind of creative spirit that makes this community so special.

Oh my gosh, this is my favorite introduction I've ever read on Stage32. I can honestly say I'm interested in every project you mentioned, and hearing more about your life and perspective. You've certainly created quite a detailed image in such few paragraphs. You made my day, and I will be reading more.
