Introduce Yourself : Hello Stage32 Community by Corinthia Deana

Corinthia Deana

Hello Stage32 Community

I’m Corinthia Deana, a writer, director, and producer who’s currently diving deep into bringing Amongst the Shadows to life. This short film is a personal journey exploring the shadows we carry—how trauma, healing, and self-discovery shape who we are. It’s all about embracing both our light and darkness to find peace.

I’ve spent the last few years learning, healing, and growing, and this project is a reflection of that journey. I’m excited to connect with other filmmakers, creators, and storytellers who are passionate about creating work that moves people and sparks deeper conversations.

I’m here to share ideas, learn from others, and find ways to support each other in this creative hustle. If you’re into exploring powerful, emotionally-driven stories or just want to chat about the ups and downs of filmmaking, I’d love to connect!

Looking forward to getting to know you all and exchanging stories and inspiration.

You're welcome, Corinthia Deana. What's your plan for your film? Are you going to submit it to festivals or post it online?

Sam Rivera

Hi Corinthia! It's great to meet you and glad you are part of the Stage 32 family!

Corinthia Deana

Maurice Vaughan I have a rollout plan to help the project gain traction and awareness before officially releasing the film. I'll submit it to festivals. Next, I'll do a live premiere online for those who donate to the campaign, and then the rollout will go from local screenings to national and eventually global.

Corinthia Deana

Hi Sam Rivera thank you!

Maurice Vaughan

That's a great plan, Corinthia Deana! Let me know when the live premiere is going to be, and I'll post about it on my social media accounts if you like.

Corinthia Deana

Maurice Vaughan I will, thank you, that would be great!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Corinthia Deana.

Imola Orbán

Hi Corinthia Deana, I'm Imola Orbán, a 14 years old Hungarian future teenager director and screenwriter (with Asperger's syndrome. I mention this so you understand why my wording might sound unusual!) I really sympathise with one of the messages of this your future film! Because I too suffered through trauma from my kindergarten teachers for years as a preschooler. And yes, it did affect my personality, temperament, world view, quite a bit, I was pretty much destroyed by it, although I managed to heal for the most part. I blame them a lot for my current problems, but I know I shouldn't blame everything at 14, almost 15, on things from 10-12 years ago.

If you don't mind me asking, what's the plot of your movie? I'm not sure if I'll watch it right away because of my current age but I wish you luck!

By the way, I'm also interested in making films about more serious topics, like the negative effects of trauma caused by war (but with current fighting criticized in it!), etc. (Sorry for my grammatical errors, English is not my mother tongue and I don't speak it well yet, so I'm writing this in Deepl, I hope that's okay!)

Corinthia Deana

Hi, Imola Orbán, wow… your message truly touched my heart. Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me and share a piece of your story—it means more than you know. You are so incredibly brave for opening up about your past and your healing journey, especially at such a young age. It takes deep strength and self-awareness to reflect the way you do—and trust me, I see you.

What you shared is a powerful reminder of why I’m telling this story. Amongst the Shadows is about facing the parts of ourselves and our past that feel heavy, uncomfortable, or even painful—but instead of running from them, we learn how to embrace and transform them. Your message reminded me that this film isn’t just a story—it’s a light for those who’ve been through darkness, just like you.

As for the plot—it centers around a woman named Freya who is navigating loss, heartbreak, and deep inner healing. She begins to see visions of her shadow self—fragments of her past, pain, fears, and inherited trauma. Through the journey, she learns how to face those parts instead of fighting them. It’s very spiritual, emotional, and rooted in healing. There are also connections to her family’s pain and how healing can ripple across generations.

You are already a storyteller in your own right, and your passion for creating films that speak to deeper issues is so inspiring. Keep nurturing that gift—it’s powerful. I believe your voice and your vision will change lives one day, just like you’ve already touched mine today.

I’m sending you so much love and encouragement from across the world. Keep shining. Keep creating. And keep healing. You are not alone.

With love,

Corinthia Deana
