Hey, everyone! We've once again reached another one of the Introduce Yourself Weekends. I wasn't going to do a theme entry this time, but MY FRIEND TONY said I had to. I FRANTICally came up with this one (though, let's be honest, I could have had SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS to come up with one, and it would be about the same). So, once again, I'm laying out the challenge: Figure out the theme for my post (without Googling), and earn yourself five points! And, as some of you have WITNESSed, it is possible to figure them out!
GETTING STRAIGHT to it, I'm Doug Kayne, a writer, comedian, and actor based out of Los Angeles. I've had the good fortune of having my very first screenplay, Romantic Comedy 101, produced and shown on E! back in 2002. Since then, I've been working to replicate the success. Currently, I'm in pre-production for a teaser scene for my sci-fi comedy series, Going Commander. I've got the first season written (of which SABRINA Carpenter would be perfect for one role), and I'd love to be able to get it green-lit so I can share it with everyone on a streaming service. I'm including a short little teaser (not the one we're prepping to film) below just for fun.
I'm also a key member of Those Four Misfits (www.ThoseFourMisfits.com), an unscripted sketch comedy group. While our audiences were SHRINKING the past few shows, I have no doubt they will rebound in the new year. I'd also LUV it if the group would be CROSSING OVER into the realm of television and movies. I feel like I've been doing comedy for 42 years (which is probably an exaggeration), but I still enjoy it.
I look forward to working with all sorts of cool, talented, nice people. Feel free to find me on Twitter, BlueSky, and LinkedIn, too, as well as hitting me up here.

Hint Count: 10 (11 if you count the title).
Happy Holidays, Doug Kayne! I thought the theme was Harrison Ford when I read "SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS" and "WITNESSed," but I don't think that's it.

Winner! What can I buy with the points, Doug Kayne?

Depends on how many points you have, Maurice Vaughan. They can either be redeemed like Chuck E. Cheese tickets or amassed like the points in Whose Line Is It Anyway?.

Chuck E. Cheese pizza, Doug Kayne. Do you have a pitch deck for Going Commander? That might help when you pitch it.

I do have a pitch deck, Maurice Vaughan. It needs some tweaking, which I need to get to soon, now that we have artwork of all the major characters.

Cool, Doug Kayne. After you tweak it, you'll be ready to go... Commander.

Here’s hoping, Maurice Vaughan. This series has been a labor of love (and sweat…and tears…). We hoped to shoot a teaser scene from the pilot before the end of 2024, but delays have happened. Hopefully early 2025. Fingers crossed!

Interesting. Shades of Red Dwarf.

Shadow Dragu-Mihai, Esq., Ipg, the genesis of GOING COMMANDER was “Star Trek TOS meets Rosencranz and Guildenstern Are Dead”. It’s evolved a little beyond that. There may be some elements of Red Dwarf (although the characters are more competent than Lister, Rimmer, etc.)
