Welcome to the community, Samuel Chambers. I watched Don't Move on Netflix Friday. It's incredible! REALLY intense and suspenseful! It inspired me to write a Thriller script.
Watch anything and everything. Some movies are great for inspiring you and giving you ideas and some movies are great for showing you why you never want to try some things.
Rebecca James - when I teach screenwriting classes or webinars I always include Eternal Sunshine. It really is a phenomenal film and beautifully written so everything ties in together - from characters to plot (and sub-plot), etc. Really strong.
For inspo, I would also include BIG FISH by John August and directed by Tim Burton. Controversial take, but I think it is Burton's best film.
I made a list some time ago (A Year's Worth of Great Movies) for some friends that listed 53 classic must-see movies, along with a one line summary of each film. I imagine you know most of them (e.g. African Queen, Casablanca, Godfather I and II), but some you may not (e.g. Anatomy of a Murder, The Oxbow Incident, Paths of Glory, Sleuth, The Stuntman, Witness for the Prosecution). In any event, I'd be happy to e-mail you a copy of the list.
BTW, if you're wondering where this inspiration is going, be sure to check out my journey on selling my script. It's called "The Script Selling Saga" and is posted in the "Your Stage" lounge. I hope you enjoy hearing about my journey!
